Trainer George Weaver, beaten favorite No Nay Mets, fourth – “He wasn't good enough today. We wanted to be forward. All three of his wins, he was on the lead or close to it. It's all fine if you want the lead, but you have to be fast enough to get there. They were smoking up there. I am not complaining about what happened today. I brought three very solid horses here and didn't hit the board with any of them. It's a disappointment, but we move on.”
Jockey Irad Ortiz, beaten favorite No Nay Mets, fourth – “He ran great. I thought I was the speed of the race but he didn't mind sitting there. He listened to me and relaxed. When I asked him, he cut the corner, was in the clear and made a good run. Unfortunately we couldn't get there.”

The status or purse of a stakes race is not always what it makes it unforgettable for some people.
Trainer George Weaver, his family, and the merry owners of the 2-year-old filly Crimson Advocate will surely agree with that fact of life in Thoroughbred racing.
As much as it was a group 2 stakes with a purse of about €115,000, the June 21 edition of the Queen Mary Stakes will be a moment locked away in the minds and hearts of everyone involved with Crimson Advocate's rather heroic victory by a very slim nose.

In a head-bobbing finish, American invader Crimson Advocate (trained by George Weaver) outnodded Relief Rally to win the June 21 Queen Mary Stakes (G2) at Ascot Racecourse. The victory was the first by an American horse at the 2023 Royal Ascot meeting, which began June 20.
"He's (No Nay Mets) going to stay with George to run in the Norfolk for a partnership and after that they will sort things out. Liam was bidding in person but he knows the horse and had him vetted. I was helping him out but he's very happy to get the horse. Now we're hoping for a good result at the races."

No Nay Mets, who was bred in Ireland but began his career with a victory in the Royal Palm Juvenile at Gulfstream Park, sold to new owner Tuckernuck Stables on Monday at the Goffs London sale, three days before a planned start in the Group 2 Norfolk at Royal Ascot. He hammered for $1.02 million (£800,000), the second-highest price at the sale.

A handful of US raiders targeting Royal Ascot were also on show at the National Stud Friday morning, including Classic Causeway (Kenneth McPeek) who is set to run in the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes and George Weaver's two juveniles, No Nay Mets and Crimson Advocate.
MY SWEET AFFAIR 2nd in the cat Laurel 06/19/2023
MY SWEET AFFAIR (Twirling Candy) gave herself away with her work ethic and graduated at Gulfstream at first asking. Jumping up into stakes company in her 2nd start she started off the pace but then rallied to third in the FanDuel Limestone Stakes at Keeneland. Today she ran 2nd in the Stormy Blues Stakes going 5 1/2 furlongs on the Laurel turf despite getting, bumped, pinched between horses and forced into a wide trip. She is owned by R. A. Hill Stable and Gatsas Stables and was bred by Highclere Inc., Dr. Amy Rabanal & Constance Wickes.

TWISTED FILIGREE (c, 2, Distorted Humor--Saturn Lace {Ire}, by Kodiac {GB}) debuted last out May 12 against an open maiden field sprinting at course and distance and finished a strong second to next-out Tremont S. runner-up Ship Cadet (Midshipman). Hammered down to 1-5 favoritism in this start against state-bred company, he broke well to range up on the outside of the early pacesetters on the backstretch. Going three across the track into the bend, Twisted Filigree locked horns with El Grande O (Take Charge Indy) coming into the lane with the inner foe taking a brief advantage coming into the furlong grounds. Battling back bravely after jumping over to his left lead once again, the winner fought for every inch and managed to prevail in a photo on the wire by a head. Over on the other side of town in the Heath Stud yard at the National Stud are George Weaver's two juveniles No Nay Mets (Ire) (No Nay Never) and Crimson Advocate (Nyquist), each of whom won their respective Royal Ascot qualifying races over five furlongs at Gulfstream Park on May 13. Under the watchful eye and guiding hand of Blair Golen, riding the saintly Angus, borrowed for ponying duties from Jamie Lloyd, the filly then the colt had a gentle canter on the 'Between the Ditches' turf gallop and seemed unfazed by their new surroundings.
ROYAL ASCOT: NO NAY METS IN NORFOLK (G2) 06/16/2023
No Nay Never is the sire of the George Weaver-trained No Nay Mets, who punched his ticket in the May 13 Royal Palm Juvenile at Gulfstream Park. Owned by the Houston Astros’ Alex Bregman, the colt is entered in Monday’s Goffs London Sale, so he could well be sporting a new jersey, so to speak, in the Norfolk.
No Nay Mets was bred by Coolmore in Ireland and purchased for €180,000 as a yearling at Arqana August. The son of Group 3-winning blueblood Etoile was re-offered at OBS in April but failed to sell at a top bid of $335,000.
Frankie Dettori picks up the Norfolk mount on No Nay Mets. The colt signaled his well-being by firing a June 2 bullet over the Oklahoma training turf at Saratoga, covering a half-mile in :48.28 on a firm course – the exact same time as his Queen Mary-bound stablemate Crimson Advocate.
“Luckily, we have Frankie Dettori riding him and, if anybody knows how to ride the course, it is definitely him,” Weaver’s assistant Blair Golen told Ascot publicity. “So I think that is to our advantage. It means everything to have him riding and, if that makes Wesley Ward jealous, then even better!”

NO NAY METS to be offered in the select Goffs London Sale 06/15/2023
NO NAY METS (No Nay Never) winner of the Royal Palm Juvenile at Gulfstream Park which gave him an immediate birth in the Norfolk S. G2 at Royal Ascot. He is entered in the Goffs London Sale - a Boutique sale on the eve of Royal Ascot at Kensington Palace Gardens. He is listed as lot 11 consigned by Jackman Bottom Trading Company LLC (Mike Akers). The sale takes place on June 19th.
Trained by American George Weaver and owned by the Houston Astros' third baseman's Bregman Family Racing, the son of No Nay Never booked his ticket when landing the 'win and you're in' Royal Palm Juvenile Stakes by an impressive three and a half lengths at Gulfstream in May, and will now attempt to become the third US-trained winner of the Group Two Norfolk.
Joining No Nay Mets on the flight across the Atlantic will be stablemate Crimson Advocate, who was equally as impressive on the same afternoon at the Florida track.
AMIDST WAVES graduates MSW at Belmont 06/12/2023
Two-year-old filly AMIDST WAVES (Midshipman) sprinted 5 furlongs on the turf at Belmont to graduate by 3 3/4 lengths going away. She is owed by Dew Sweepers and was bred by Woods Edge Farm, LLC & Ballyfair Bloodstock.
Almost! DORTH VADER a close 2nd in the G1 Acorn S. 06/10/2023
Making her first start for George Weaver, DORTH VADER (Girvin) fought hard with the eventual winner to lose by a head at the wire in the Acorn S G1. The filly in third was 4 lengths back, DORTH VADER battled back gamely along the inside down the stretch. She is a homebred for John Ropes.
According to the Daily Racing Form, Weaver's wife Cindy will be able to join him for the Royal Ascot trip. Last July, Cindy Weaver suffered a severe brain injury in a accident at Saratoga.
“Cindy has come a long ways while continuing her recovery since the accident,” Weaver told DRF. “It's not easy what she's had to go through over the past 11 months just to get herself to where she's at right now. She's put an awful lot of work into this and fortunately is slowly but steadily getting back to being capable of doing more things, like traveling to Aspen, Colorado, as we did in March and now making this trip to England next month.

Since the day No Nay Mets and Crimson Advocate won their Royal Ascot qualifiers May 13 at Gulfstream Park, trainer George Weaver has been busy making arrangements for his 2-year-olds' stakes appearances at England's most prestigious Thoroughbred meet.
Stablemates Crimson Advocate and No Nay Mets, who registered relatively easy victories in the first two Win and You’re In qualifying races for Royal Ascot ever run in the U.S. earlier this month at Gulfstream Park, will be off to merry old England in two weeks for the Queen Mary on June 21 and Norfolk Stakes the following afternoon, trainer George Weaver confirmed on Wednesday.
DARK VECTOR sails to Belmont MSW graduation by 10 lengths! 05/22/2023
When DARK VECTOR (Bolt D'Oro) decided it was time to graduate, he romped to a 1O length win geared down in an off the turf 7 furlong MSW at Belmont. The talented colt is owned by R. A. Hill Stable, Gatsas Stables, RAP Racing and Chris Mara. He was bred by
Springhouse Farm. With 2 placings to his name he has already earned $86,200.
When the market determines the value of something, they call it “the going rate.” In the case of George Weaver's two juvenile winners at Gulfstream last Saturday, however, a recent pricing had meant that neither was going anywhere. No Nay Mets (Ire) (No Nay Never) was staying in the same ownership; and Crimson Advocate (Nyquist) was staying in the same barn. And now both, from going nowhere, are on their way to Royal Ascot next month.
USA: Trainer George Weaver will be heading to Royal Ascot next month after sweeping both ‘win and you’re in’ qualifiers for Britain’s most prestigious meeting at Gulfstream Park on Saturday [May 13].
The trainer now has two horses that are Royal Ascot-bound after stakes victories.
No Nay Mets Books Ascot Ticket With Inaugural Royal Palm Juvenile Win 05/13/2023
A recent RNA out of the OBS April Sale, No Nay Mets booked his ticket to Royal Ascot with a win Saturday in the inaugural Royal Palm Juvenile. Facing a field of mostly first-time starters, the son of Ireland-based No Nay Never was given only a mild 10-1 shot but broke right to the front from an outside gate under Luca Panici. With the best speed of the group, he out-sprinted his rivals to clear into the far turn through a half in :45.44 and only pulled further away from there, hitting the wire going away. With the win, No Nay Mets earned an automatic start into one of the six 2-year-old races at this year's Royal Ascot meet happening from Jun. 20-24 and his connections also earned a $25,000 travel stipend.
“He's a pretty nifty colt,” said trainer George Weaver. “He was on a rushed schedule for this. There's no reason not to go over there. It's a lot of fun, and he's got as good a chance as anybody.”
The first and to date only foal out of group-stakes winner Etoile, herself a full-sister to GSW/MG1SP Ancient Rome, No Nay Mets traces back to G1 Investec Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}) and GSW/G1SP Dawn Patrol (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). This is also the extended family of GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf heroine Pizza Bianca (Fastnet Rock {Aus})
Nyquist's Crimson Advocate Takes Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies S 05/13/2023
Trainer George Weaver booked a traveling companion for his earlier Royal Palm Juvenile winner No Nay Mets as CRIMSON ADVOCATE (Nyquist–Citizen Advocate, by Proud Citizen) went gate-to-wire in the filly's division, stamping her own ticket to next month's Royal Ascot meet. With the best break of the field, the filly never gave the others a chance, opening up a length in the first furlong and never letting the others get a step closer. Wesley Ward's Ocean Mermaid (GB) (Kingman {GB}) was the only rival to give chase but was always second best as Crimson Advocate cruised home alone to win by daylight. The final time for the five-furlong sprint was :56.25, over a second faster than the colt's division earlier in the day. With the win, she earned an automatic start into one of the six 2-year-old races at this year's Royal Ascot meet happening from Jun. 20-24 and her connections also earned a $25,000 travel stipend. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-1.

Pass the Champagne was an emphatic 5 1/2-length winner after tracking the pace set by Gerrymander and pouncing to the lead at the stretch call. She drew away strongly down the lane under Feargal Lynch to complete the course in 1:36.13.
“She looks real good and we're just delighted with her,” said trainer George Weaver. “She's a filly in the mornings that has said to us that she's a really good racemare, and it's been a long road for her.”
